Wrath & Blue spoiler from Ausiello

Question: How happy are you that the Smurfs are finally being released on DVD on Feb. 26? Because of this fantastic news, how 'bout a little Smallville scoop? — Melanie

Ausiello: Well, I'd be even happier if it was coming out three days earlier (hint, hint), but Feb. 26 will do just fine. On the Smallville front, as I promised in this week's AR vodcast, the identity of the mystery person whom Chloe confronts in the Nov. 8 episode is none other than… Lana! Clark's BFF basically issues Lana an ultimatum: You hurt my friend, you deal with me.

Question: I wondered if you could give me any news about Smallville. — Sergei

Ausiello: In the Nov. 15 episode, we'll learn that two characters (one evil, one presumably good) are in cahoots. And that can only mean bad things for a certain unnamed heroine.

"Lara" Scoop from TV Guide

Mom of Steel
On the heels of Dean Cain's guest spot, another actor with ties to the Man of Steel mythos lands in Smallville THE CW, 8/7c) when 1984's big-screen "Supergirl," Helen Slater, begins a two-episode arc as Clark's Kryptonian mom, Lara. "You know how people love this kind of stuff," enthuses Slater, adding that we first see a pregnant Lara in Superlore-tweaking flashbacks set on her doomed home planet. "After learning that Krypton is going to be destroyed, I go through a portal to Smallville to see where my baby will be raised...because [my husband] Jor-El has already been to Earth and picked the Kents to be Clark's family." In a passing-of-the-torch moment, Supermom makes the trip with her niece Kara, aka Supergirl. TV guide interview with Al Gough PT.2

We've yet to get a glimpse of Clark Kent, journalist, on this show. When are we going to welcome Clark to the bullpen? —shalimarfox80
Al Gough: Not this season, but Lois will be joining the "Planet" staff full time.

Superman's moral stance on killing is very clear in the comic books. Do you believe that there is more flexibility in Clark's moral code before he becomes Superman, or is there a philosophy you have developed for these circumstances? SueB62

Gough: A great question. We were told up front by DC Comics that Clark couldn't kill anyone. Now I can hear the fans going, "But in that episode.... " The fact is we adopted a policy from the start that the villain had to fall on their own sword, or die by circumstances beyond Clark's control. I've heard lots of arguments in early episodes that Clark did "kill" someone, but the fact is he hasn't and he won't. Now, when it comes to aliens and Zoners and Zod (whom in the comics,…

Interview with Gough at CBR

Why was it time to introduce Kara/Supergirl, played by newcomer Laura Vandervoort, on “Smallville”? The main reason was to give someone to illuminate Clark's Kryptonian past, which we touched on with Jor-El in the Fortress and stuff, but to have a sort of flesh and blood relative there who was actually alive on Krypton and knew Clark's parents and some of the other goings-on in the House of El, which we are going to find out about essentially around episode 6. And also for Clark, Jonathan's dead, Martha is in Washington, we are still very much a family show so it was nice that he had some family but again, this is real, flesh and blood Kryptonian family rather than his adopted parents. It also puts Clark in less of the child role and more of the mentor role. Tom Welling's really grown into the role of Clark. He is really playing the part well.Tom does it really well. He has had such extraordinary growth as an actor over the course of the series. And that's him. He…

Are you still going to stick with your original "No Tights, No Flights" policy, considering how far we've come with the mythology and the fact that Supergirl [aka Kara, played by Laura Vandervoor will be flying? — Salchan

And she's meeting a....Superfan!As you Smallville fans already know, the latest DC Comics character to join the beloved series is Clark Kent's powerful cousin Kara, played by the beautiful Laura Vandervoort. This is giddy-good stuff for anyS-ville fan, and we just so happen to have in our E! Online family the biggest S-ville diehard on the planet: Michael Berner (who may or may not have appeared on a Vine show or two as Manna White). What is it like playing her?
There's a certain bit of pressure that comes with it. I want to make sure I do a good job and [live up to] the comic book fans' idea of who she is, but also put my own spin on it. It's been a lot of…
