Latest from Ausiello

Question: Any juicy spoilers on Smallville? And what's up with Brainiac? — Michelle
Ausiello: This week's Ausiello Report vodcast has fraktastic spoilers on what will become of Chloe and Lex in the big 150th episode on May 1. And regarding Brainiac, departing exec producer Al Gough tells us that in that same episode "the Clark-Brainiac story is going to come to a head."

Question: We need scoop on why Al Gough and Miles Millar left Smallville! This is a complete shock. I know you can get us answers!— Jesse
Ausiello: Everyone I spoke to about this — and that includes sources at the CW, Warner Bros. and the show itself — tell me two key issues played a role in their departure: money and movies. Warner Bros. apparently wasn't offering enough of the former, and their Smallville duties weren't affording them enough time to do the latter. Now, these same sources stressed that the duo's exit should not be likened to the seismic event that was Team Palladino's e…

EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS LEAVE SMALLVILLE

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, creators and executive producers of Smallville, announced on Wednesday night they are leaving The CW series.

Gough said he and Millar are focusing full time on feature films. Their film credits include Spider-Man 2 and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

"We are currently working on Jungle Cruise for Disney," Gough said, "and producing a movie for them as well, which I can't talk about because there hasn't been an official announcement, but it starts shooting in May."

Smallville has been picked up for an eighth -- and likely final -- season by The CW.

Gough also sent an open letter regarding the pair's departure.

An open letter from Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, creators and executive producers of Smallville.

As the creators of Smallville, we look back at 7 amazing years. We look back at 152 episodes. We look back knowing that the show will continue into Season 8 without us. After much heartache and debate we have decided i…

Smallville Season Gears Up

Smallville Season Gears Up
From SciFi Wire

Brian Peterson, executive producer of The CW's Smallville, told SCI FI Wire that the writers already are gearing up for the show's upcoming eighth season, thanks to an early pickup announcement.

"We're always hopeful, and we always plan every year for a season finale, but it's really great when we get to tell one more year of Clark's story," Peterson said in an interview.

"It's very early, and we really have to work in partnership with the studio, because right now we haven't presented anything to them," Peterson added with a laugh.

As for the current season, five new episodes will begin airing, starting on April 17, with the focus clearly on Lex's fall to the dark side, starting in the episode "Descent."

"The rest of this season is, for the most part, about Lex finding what he's always been looking for," Peterson said. "'Veritas' [the last original episode to …
