Erica Durance Interview

Smallville's season opener raised so many questions I knew I had to get you answers. Lucky for me, the lovely Erica Durance stopped by recently for a chat, and I got some dishy deets from Smallville's Lois Lane herself on Clark, the so-called Good Samaritan and other juicy tidbits to tide you over until tonight's episode.

Lois & Clark…the Couple? Look for an upcoming episode where Clark and Lois investigate a man who stalks couples, so of course Lois decides they should play a couple as bait, and Lois plays it to the hilt while Clark feels a wee bit uncomfortable. But subterfuge aside, don't expect Lois and Clark makeout sessions quite yet. "I think they are just being very careful on how they have that relationship unfold," said Erica. "And I just want to make sure she earns the right to be loved by Superman."

Who Is the Good Samaritan? There seems to be a superstrong man running around saving the day...but who is he? That is the question asked b…

Latest from TV Guide

We know that Erica Durance attended TV Guide's Emmys after-party. Did you have the opportunity to talk to her/dig up more scoop? – Gaby
Matt: Ooh, salt, fresh wound. Yes, I got Erica and her physics-defying dress on video, but it somehow vanished into the ether. (Or maybe she is a genie...?) Two things I recall her saying: In lieu of The Kiss, "smoldering" Clois moments are to come, and the rumor that Smallville is ceding its time slot to Reaper after Episode 10 was news to her. From other sources, I confirmed that Lois will briefly gain "powers" at some point this season, but no, she doesn’t engage in a killing spree (as one Buzz reader suggested).

Question: Thank you for the spoilers from Smallville. Got anything new? -- Sue
Ausiello: Details are emerging on the blockbuster November sweeps two-parter (episodes 10 and 11) and they're so tantalizing that even I'm tempted to watch. Following Chloe's wedding to Jimmy, Brainiac slowly starts taking over Chloe's body. By episode 11, he has taken complete possession of her. And that, my friends, is just the tip of the iceberg.

Season 8 Premiere Ratings

The CW season premiere of Smallville led off with 4.383 million viewers and a 1.8/6 in both demo categories. It was down around 14% versus last year’s season premiere (9/27/07) of 5.08 million viewers, but only down about 5% among 18-49 year olds where last year it had a 1.9.
The drop in viewers for Smallville was offset somewhat by the gain in viewers for the premiere of one of my favorite shows, Supernatural which averaged 3.956 million viewer from 9p-10p and a 1.7/5 among 18-49 year olds. Last year’s season premiere on 10/4/07 had of 2.97 million viewers and an 18-49 rating of 1.2, so the gains in viewers are ~33% versus last year and ~42% among 18-49 year olds. Way to go Supernatural!

Question: Got anything big on Smallville? (Get it? Big on small?) -- Josh
Ausiello: You're brilliant! Smallville is putting the finishing touches on what I'm told are two of the biggest episodes in years -- 8.10 and 8.11. The former marks the return of Lana, while latter is being penned by celebrated comic book writer Geoff Johns.

Smallville: Erica Durance on Being Lois Lane

The actress talks about Lois and Clark’s close new situation in Season 8.US, September 12, 2008 - Erica Durance has played Lois Lane on Smallville since the fourth season, but because the show was focusing on a younger Clark Kent — in high school still when Lois was introduced — so far the producers had avoided creating too much of the classic Lois and Clark scenarios. Things are beginning to change though in Season 8 of Smallville, debuting Thursday night. Clark now works at the Daily Planet alongside Lois, bringing their characters closer than ever.During my recent visit to the Smallville set, I sat down and chatted with Durance about her character and how Lois is continuing to evolve.IGN: Your character has slowly but surely gotten more important as the series has progressed.Durance: This is now my fifth season. It’s gone by really quickly. But I was able to kind of learn as I went with finding the character. She was in little snippets here and there. But as the years have gone by,…

Sam Witwer; Doomed

Q. What are some of the recent projects that you've been working on?A. Right now I'm working on Smallville, I'm playing a character named Davis Bloom who is destined to become Dooms Day, the only DC comic book character to kill Superman. Also coming out on the16th is a video game called Force Unleashed in which I play the character of Darth Vader's secret apprentice who has this epic journey and ends up impacting events in the Star Wars universe three and four. Q. What can you tell us is new this season on Smallville and about your character Davis?A. They have some really interesting, fun stuff planned. Davis Bloom is this Metropolis paramedic who is this really, really nice guy. He's a little bit moody because he's this perpetual outsider who was raised in the foster care system and was bounced from home to home. He's a really good guy and he can be a little bit moody and not terribly talkative at times but a very, very cool person. Chloe sort o…

New Site Section - Celebrity Photos

Just wanted to let you know that we've just launched a new section to the site called "Celebrity Photos".

We've had a lot of feedback recently from people wanting to see more photos of their favorite TV and Movie stars etc but they didn't really fit in with any of our existing sections. We were also getting increasing frustrated in how many other sites (JustJared, Popsuger, Splash etc) posted these photos with huge great watermarks across the photos which spoilt them for the fans.

As a result we have created Celebrity Photos where you will find the latest HQ images of Celebrities at Events, Openings, Photoshoots etc all with NO watermarks. You also have the ability to rate the photos which will help us in determining the types of photos we post in the future.

You can subscribe to the RSS Fee here and follow us on Twitter here.

We hope you enjoy this new section and if you have any comments please feel free to email us.

Erica Durance Interview

The time is now for Smallville to take the Superman mythos to the next level by teaming Clark and Lois at the "Daily Planet." With the CW series' season premiere a week away, sought to squeeze some "scoop" out of Ms. Lane herself, Erica Durance. Here in Part 1, the actress updates us on her episode count, braces for the critical storyline laid before her and, yes, reveals the last thing I expected to hear her say. — Matt Mitovich First things first: How many episodes do we have you for this season?
Erica Durance: All I know is I'm doing more than my 13, but they wont tell me how many yet. Those sneaks. Don’t they know you have bills to pay? Shoes to buy?
Durance: It is sneaky, right?! Now that we're doing Lois and Clark at the "Daily Planet," do you feel as if, more than ever, all eyes are on you?
Durance: I would go crazy if I felt deeply that way. I would go insane! But what I do feel, because we&…
