Tom Welling Close to Deal on a Ninth Season!!

According to Ausiello at EW, Smallville's Tom Welling (Clark) is close to a a huge deal for a ninth season!!

Question: Any news as to whether Tom Welling has signed on for another season of Smallville? -- Scarlett

Ausiello: Yes, there's news, and it's good. Some would even call it, ahem, super. According to a well-placed Smallville insider, Welling is nearing a deal to return for a ninth season. I'm told they're just ironing out some minor deal points, such as should the Brinks Truck pull into the actor's driveway, or just unload on the street.

  5. Who cares. What about Allison Mack? She is the real star of this show.

  6. Oh Please... all she does is get shoehorned into plot exposition and thats not needed anymore. Clark's a big boy now, he doesn't need a sidekick/hack, Lois doesn't need a cousin that treats her like crap, and Jimmy needs to be at the DP with them two and not being ball-less around Chloe.

  9. Here's hoping that after signing that huge check for Welling that the producers wake up and realize that Chloe has been reduced to nothing more than a plot device and that they definitely don't need her anymore now that Lois and Clark are doing so well on their own with all of Clark's other friends. Keep everyone else but axe Allison and her rediculous pay increase. What a waste of money that was to sign her on for season eight and nine while we got a shoe string effects budget. Anyone thinking that she's automatically going to be in season nine just because they have her under contract for next season, needs to talk to Sam Jones III and Eric Johnson who were both cut long before their contracts were up. Just because she's made it through to this many seasons does not mean they will not cut Allison out of season nine. I truely hope Tom Welling demands such a rediculous amount of money that they have no choice but to cut "Plot Device Chloe". I guess we now know who got Pete's role. If they want to have the money to make Clark fly all next season then the plot device krypto freak (Sadly ironic how she's now the freak of the week, every week, isn't it?) will definitely have to go.

  10. IF Erica leaves next season i'll be happy so the show can focus more on Clark, but otherwise BAD IDEA. We're already so sick of the Clark and Lois show and i dont think many viewers will tune in to see that! If that happens it will be cancelled midseason thus taking away the chance for us to see a real series finale. Just end the hsow this season and move on. As much as i like Sv, i want to see Tom in some other good roles.

  11. Smallville's Clark Kent and Lois Lane could never ever be turned into the 90's show of Lois and Clark. Clark Kent and Lois Lane are infamous characters known throughout the comic universe. The 90's show was a fun, campy, silly version. Smallville does not have those qualities since it's more serious and rather dark at times. I myself am fans of the characters put have been soooo impressed with the chemistry that Tom and Erica's Clark and Lois have and because of that, I am not worried at all that this will become the Lois and Clark show. Heck, I'm now sitting at the edge of my seat waiting for the legendary love to begin.

I love their mythology over the years and I can't wait to see how the writers write out and then to see how Tom Welling and Erica Durance show fans how and why Lois Lane is the love of his life and the one he is destined to be with.

  13. tt, get your facts straight.. the ratings for this season have been awesome and more people have been positive about this show than I've seen in the past 3 seasons.. the only two episodes that dipped in ratings this year were Prey and Abyss (which went way down) and those were non-Clark/Lois episodes... numbers don't lie.
