Serinda Swan Interview

This Thursday, Zatanna works her magic on the CW's Smallville, and at least one person's life might never be the same as a result. What brings the DC Comics character to town? Aside from granting Chloe a birthday wish, what other tricks does Ms. Z. have up her sleeve? And which of Smallville's eligible gents is she hot to cast a sexy spell on? Guest star Serinda Swan shared with us a few of her secrets.

TVGuide.com: So, "Serinda Swan" — a name as pretty as the actress who wears it.
Serinda Swan: Aw, thank you very much! I had a thespian and a hippie for parents, so they came up with unique names for my sister [Ariel] and I. A "serinda" is an ancient Tibetan musical instrument, like a flute.

TVGuide.com: When you landed this Smallville role, did you immediately start Googling to see what Zatanna looks like and what she's all about?
Swan: Only after I found out that I was Zatanna; I originally auditioned for "Cassie," which was the character…

Episode 8.17 - Hex - Preview

The CW has given the HQ trailer of next week's "Smallville". Titled "All Out War", the preview is highlighting on what happen in the episode "Hex" which is directed by Tom Welling himself and will air on March 26. It includes the origin of Clark's existence and why he has to be up against Davis.

At Chloe's birthday party, a mysterious magician named Zatanna (guest star Serinda Swan) grants Chloe's wish to be more like Lois and switches the two into each other's bodies. Zatanna searches for her father's book of spells so she can conjure up his spirit but not before also granting Clark his deepest wish.

Cassidy Freeman who plays Tess told E!, "I think it's really interesting what they're doing with Chloe. You have this show that has been on for so long, and you have this character that's not really in the mythos and has had to create her own self. You can do anything with her and that's kind of what they're doi…

Carolyn: Hi, Kristin, any good Chloe spoilers in the Smallville pipeline?
Thanks to Zantanna (Serinda Swan), Chloe and Lois are going to be switching bodies in "Hex," but there could be more crazy stuff for Allison Mack to come. Cassidy Freeman tells me, "I think it's really interesting what they're doing with Chloe. You have this show that has been on for so long, and you have this character that's not really in the mythos and has had to create her own self. You can do anything with her and that's kind of what they're doing."

How's this? Meteor freaks start dying in Metropolis, but don't be so quick to think Doomsday is the culprit.

POLL : What did you think of Smallville - Infamous?

Discuss this episode in our Official Episode Discussion Thread.

Latest from Kristin

What would life be like for Clark Kent (Tom Welling) on Smallville if everyone knew that he is actually a Superman? What if there were a journal that held every detail about Kal-El, Krypton and Clark Kent? Well, in an upcoming episode Tess Mercer (Cassidy Freeman) discovers there is such a journal, and it's not at all clear that she can be trusted with that info...

We just chatted up Cassidy about Tess' arc this season, and not only does she hold the key to Clark's secret but she's in grave danger herself and may not even be back next season...

Tess and Clark are going for a little flight, and the episode is called "Turbulence"—plane crash anyone?
Ding, ding, ding! It's me and Clark. I approach him in a very different way than Lex did; I see Clark as an opportunity for security in a way that I've never felt before. I, like everybody else, need a hero, and I'm looking to Clark for that.

Does Tess know about Clark's powers?
She knows what she's r…

The Most Super Moments to Watch for!

The CW's Smallville resumes its eighth season this Thursday at 8 pm/ET, with "Infamous," the first of eight new episodes.

In keeping with that theme of "eight," TVGuide.com invited executive producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson to tease the big moments to watch for this spring, from eight specific categories.

The twosome's teases may in some instances be short, but each one is still oh-so-sweet to speculate about and set the TiVo for. Here now is the producers' laundry list of especially super scenes.

The Most Frightening Moment
"Beast", Episode 20: "Chloe's Beauty and the Beast fantasy turns into a nightmare."

The Most Iconic Moment
"Infamous," Episode 15: "Lois, in Clark's arms, says, 'Guess I can't call you Smallville anymore.'"

The Most Romantic Moment
"Stiletto," Episode 19: "Phone booth. Lois. Red-Blue Blur."

The Most Comical Moment
"Hex," Episode 17: "Chl…

Latest from TV Guide

At the beginning of the Smallville season, we were led to believe that Erica Durance would film more than her regular 13 episodes. Instead, she's actually doing less! Erica will only appear in 12 episodes, and her fans want to know why. — Helga
MATT: Your math, unfortunately, is correct. With Lois absent from Episode 21 (titled "Injustice" and directed by one Tom Welling), Erica will only be in a dozen episodes this season — and that fact pains me especially since I was the one Erica said "more than 13" to. The why of this shortfall won't soothe the sting: Storylines and episode counts are forever fluid, an insider explains, and this is simply how it netted out for Ms. Durance. If I may venture forth with a "silver lining" of sorts: Once Clois fans watch the season finale, it is likely that all will be forgiven. Now just don't ask me about ED and Season 9; you're supposed to be kept guessing as to the "two deaths" in the season fi…

Clark comes out

Smallville returns from hiatus this Thursday with an episode that answers the question: What would happen if Clark stopped hiding his inner superhero? The answer lies in the exclusive clip below. And stick around for a second, bonus scene from this week's ep that should have "Chlark" fanatics leaping tall buildings with a single bound.

Episode 8.22

The "very big thing" we teased... yep, it's more guest heroes. Though we're veering on the side of it being the Justice League rather than the Legion as Ausiello had hinted. Apparently a new set is being constructed to tie in with their return. Don't be surprised if even a character like Kara makes a return

Latest from Ausiello - Two characters will die

The Grim Reaper is once again descending on Smallville, and this time he's not foolin' around.

Multiple sources confirm to me exclusively that two pivotal characters will bite the dust in this May's season finale. And in a bit of a departure for Smallville, both deaths will stick. "These characters will die and they will stay dead," maintains my insider. "This is the real deal."

Of course, that's not to say producers aren't planning a twist or two, because they are. But I'm told those twists do not involve bringing either character back to life.

If you're looking for another clue, you're out of luck. I'm not even going to do one of those morbid charts where I assess each character's chances for survival. I wouldn't want to do anything beyond writing this spoilery story to ruin the surprises in store.

Eh, one more little tease won't hurt anyone: One character qualifies as a Smallville vet... the other one, not so much.

Let …

Rosenbaum to Return?

When Michael Rosenbaum took his character of Lex Luthor out of "Smallville" after The CW's seventh season, many fans thought it was the beginning of the end for the show that was also soon to lose its creative team.

But the eighth season of "Smallville," complete with a new mission and some new characters, was a hit with fans, averaging a 2.6 rating/4 share in Fast National overnight ratings from Nielsen Media Research -- dead even with the show's performance in the seventh season -- and has become The CW's highest-rated show.

Now that a ninth season is a lock, it seems the new showrunners want to lock in one more other character: Lex Luthor.

While it's not clear whether Rosenbaum has been approached for the ninth season, it seems that some of the ideas floating around the writers room at "Smallville" is that it would make a powerful statement to bring Luthor back into the fold full-time, sources tell Airlock Alpha.

The problem would surround …
