Latest from Ausiello - Two characters will die

The Grim Reaper is once again descending on Smallville, and this time he's not foolin' around.

Multiple sources confirm to me exclusively that two pivotal characters will bite the dust in this May's season finale. And in a bit of a departure for Smallville, both deaths will stick. "These characters will die and they will stay dead," maintains my insider. "This is the real deal."

Of course, that's not to say producers aren't planning a twist or two, because they are. But I'm told those twists do not involve bringing either character back to life.

If you're looking for another clue, you're out of luck. I'm not even going to do one of those morbid charts where I assess each character's chances for survival. I wouldn't want to do anything beyond writing this spoilery story to ruin the surprises in store.

Eh, one more little tease won't hurt anyone: One character qualifies as a Smallville vet... the other one, not so much.

Let the speculation (and prayer vigils) begin in the comments section!

  1. Doomsday is destined to kill Superman in the future, Lois is destined to marry Superman in the future, Jimmy is destined to take pictures for the DP in the future, Lana has moved on and will eventually marry Pete, Lex is the arch nemesis of Superman, and the green arrow has his own story arc. That leaves Chloe and Tess to die and stay dead. Those are the 2 out of 3 of my favorite characters. What a BUMMER.

  2. Tess and .....??

I guess they could change the Superman story a bit. I hope they keep chloe until the end of the show.

  3. Chloe has to be the Smallville vet unfortunately. I don't see who else it could be. I will also guess that Oliver dies in an upset.

Chloe is the best character on the show. It's a shame.

  4. What if it's neither Clark or Chloe, but rather Lana offscreen where Clark reads about her death and is left devastated?

  5. It has to be Chloe, everyone else has to live for the story to continue accurately. If they DO kill Chloe they might as well cancel season 9 now.

  6. I have to agree with the previous comment if they kill Chloe or Davis and keep Doomsday(which are both possible)I'm done with the show...cancel season 9 now!

  7. aw thats so sad I think it is going to be Chloe my favorite character of the bunch & Tess which I could care less about but if they kill chloe it will suck in my opinion first Lana then Chloe that is so annoying

  8. Yes! Please let it be Chloe that's killed off. I'm so sick of her smug and self-righteous behavior. Her scenes have become a giant time-suck on Smallville.

  9. If they kill off Clark and it sticks, then Smallville is over. Davis wouldn't be dead, but rather turn into Doomsday forever. That leaves both Chloe and Tess. Notice that the final 5 episodes are focusing on Chloe more so than Clark and Davis. Lana already had her final 5 episodes in this season.

  10. I think it's Chloe because in the episode "Legion" it pretty much spelled out a foreshadowing of her death. It makes that it would be her because she's not in the comics so the producers have to do away with her. I don't care too much for Tess so I doubt anyone will miss her.

  11. LOL THE LOVING COUPLE!! OLIVER AND TESS DIE TOGETHER HOLDING HANDS!! LOL

  12. wut if it's martha kent? shes considered a vet. also davis isn't signed onto next season so im assuming hes the other.

  13. They had hard enough time as it was getting Chloe for Season 8, so that's my guess. Would be awesome if they brought Lana back for the finale to kill her. What a dream come true that would be.

  14. They aren't going to kill Lana or Oliver, they are both in Clark's lives in the future. As for Chloe, she has been with us the whole way through and I just think, as hard as it is to say, goodbye. I didn't think it would ever happen, but I guess it will. It will be weird not seeing her as Clark's best friend because we have become so accustomed to it, I just hope they do it well for all the fans. As for the "minor" character, I would imagine it would be Tess. That would be a good way to bring back Lex in some capacity for the last season next year.

Also, I had a thought, with Davis having such strong feelings for Chloe, I would imagine her death would propel him into his Doomsday persona for good, thus not needing "Davis" anymore. And as awful as this sounds, I have no earthly idea what they could do with Jimmy. They obviously can't kill him since he's part of Clark's future life as well, but he won't be too integral really, if you look at it after Chloe is gone.

Those are just my two cents.

  15. Has to be Chloe and Davis. It's time for Smallville to move closer to Superman territory as it gets closer to the end so that means no more Davis - just Doomsday. And Chloe's death will spur Clark on towards his destiny - FINALLY! I'll miss Chloe but it's a nice meaty storyline to go out on and so long as they make it one heck of a finale for her, the huge dramatic effect on Clark and Lois should help propel the show into plenty of great storylines in season nine. I'm really looking forward to the finale and the new season and it's a brave move to kill off a long time cast member this way. Here's hoping it means more of Erica Durance's Lois Lane and that we finally get to see the Lois and Clark relationship. I LOVE how Clark is around her. And I think Durance and Welling have amazing chemistry on screen.

Just in the name of all that MAKES SENSE and is RESPECTFUL to the Superman legacy do NOT let them go the disgusting and insulting Chlois route. It turns my stomach.

  16. I think it'd be funny if they kill Chloe AND Lois. It's already canon that both are replaceable.

  17. Kill Lois and Tess and then have Chloe take Lois' identity.

I wish that was the case, but these writers are too stupid and doesn't have the balls to do something incredible/controversial/exciting like that. So they are gonna kill the only likable character smallville had for 8 years and in season 9 shove us with silly clois drama that will just repeat itself over and over until the show gets boring ,tired and eventually cancelled, leaving it impossible to have a proper ending.

I didn't wast 8 years of my lief to see this. So if Chloe dies i'm done. I can always watch my season 3 episodes and forget everything after season 5 happened.

  18. If Tess appears in the season finale, her episode count is going to be higher than Lois, Jimmy, Davis, and Oliver's. Notice that they're building towards something in relation to Chloe - her Brainiac powers, her feelings for Davis, her wedding with Jimmy, her birthday, her impersonation of Lois,
her friendship with Clark changed, and her working with the Injustice group. Plus, the Legion episode had foreshadowings for Chloe as well. In this season, they built up Lana at the same time they tore down Chloe.

  19. PLEASE be Chloe and Davis! They bore me soo much!

  20. I was thinking Chloe and maybe Davis at 1st, but now I am thinking the "vet" they may be talking about could be Martha Kent. I mean killing Clarks momma would make him just mad enough to learn how to fly and go after who it was who killed her which presumably would be Doomsday and that would give them someplace to go for next season and end the series with the big doomsday/superman faceoff. Obviously it can't be Clark, Lois or Jimmy if they stay true to the Superman lore, plus without Clark there is no Smallville. Chloe's storyline seems to be getting a lil out there so I would like to see it be her although I do like Allison Mack. I am hearing a rumor that after next season they might try to do a spin off with the green arrow so I doubt it will be Oliver Queen. Don't see much of a need for Tess either though! Hmmmm, so many possibilities.

  21. its gonna be either chloe, tess and davis going down the killing lane. This twist that they say is going to happen would most likely be doomsday. Davis dies, but it means doomsday comes back for season 9 in full force! Maybe they could do something weird, like somehow a part of chloe goes inside lois?! But otherwise they can't kill clark, jimmy or lois because they are part of the true superman mythology. There is a slight possibility they could kill green arrow regardless of a spin off. This is smallville.....

WHAT have the new creative team for S8 done to Chloe this season?

  23. Oh PLEASE kill Chloe off!!!!! She needs to go already!!!!!!

  24. Chloe. Chloe. Chloe. Yes, finally Chloe is going to die.

  25. I'll just wait for that episode. I hate wondering.

  26. I thought i read somewhere that Tom, Allison, Justin, Cassidy, Erica and Aaron signed a contract for season 9 so it definetly leaves Sam to become Doomsday full time, LANA returns for one more episode or LEX even though he was supposedly killed off in Requiem.

    ReplyDelete
  27. obviously that could be wrong because John Glover (Lionel) was contracted for season 8 ut was killed off so anything can happen most probably will be chloe (NO WAY HOW AND WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS TO ME) and tess (YAY).

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'd better be Lana or somebody else, 'cause if they kill Chloe, pretty much the only character on this show that I actually like, I may just stop watching it. Heck, the only reason that I was watching this season is because I thought it was its last.

    ReplyDelete
  29. No not davis nor oliver. Sorry, without the hot guys whats left...Clark (boring).

    ReplyDelete
  30. Now they have change the script. One character will die, the other will leaving the series and won't be back for next season.
