Latest from TV Guide

Thanks to Shanna for the heads up.

They soon will be split up — Smallville is moving to Fridays at 8 — but Clark Kent and the Winchester brothers still have something in common: Despite rumblings surrounding both shows, neither is necessarily entering its final season this fall.

Asked if Clark Kent will hang up his red windbreaker after Season 9, CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff told on Thursday, "No .... It's not necessarily the last season." Ostroff then volunteered, "I hope it's not."

Similarly, Eric Kripke has maintained in recent years that Supernatural is operating on a five-year plan, meaning this next cycle would conclude Sam and Dean's saga. Ostroff, though, says she is adopting a "We'll see how the season goes" outlook.

After all, "[The Supernatural creative team] did a really good job this year," Ostroff notes, "and it really paid off in the ratings."

Come fall, The Vampire Diaries will lead into Supernatural on Thursdays, while Fox is moving Fringe to that Thursdays-at-9 time period.

What do you think, Smallville and/or Supernatural fans? If handled properly this coming season, which show do you feel will have life left in it come fall 2010?

  1. Bad Idea. Why do networks continue to move popular shows to Friday? That night is a death sentence!!!!!
The even nuttier thought is that Smallville went up in ratings this year, why fix what's NOT broken?
Moving to Fridays is basically telling me that season 9 will be thier last. (If they make it that far into the season before the rating shatter)...

  2. Except that Smallville's ratings didn't went up except for 3 or 4 Episodes. S8 also featured 2 of the lowest rated Episodes of the series. ED and her "acting" kills the show. No surprise they moved it to Friday.

  3. In my opinion season 8 of Smallville is the best so far! I'm thrilled that it's coming back and would love to see years more to come!

  4. Yea I have to agree, I don't see Smallville comin back for another season. I wonder if CW realizes that Friday sux in terms of ratings. Once the ratings get low then they can say that they have a reason not to renew the show.

  5. I agree they need to put it back on thursdays if they want it to do good for season 9 I mean really why do they move all the good shows to friday night if they want it to succeed I bet this is the final season
